Grimsby Farmers' Market

The Farmers' Market continues to sell wonderful fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses each week.  The summer drought has been difficult for growers, yet they have managed to prevail  and bring great produce to market each week.

We are lucky in Grimsby to have a flower stall with Wendalane Farms flower bouquets.  The bouquets dot the crowd as they walk from vendor to vendor and usually sell out each week.  I asked Jen how she managed through the drought, and she explained they have put in a drip line to water the plants, and will use it next year as well.

We're coming to the conclusion in a few weeks - October 6th marks the end of Grimsby's Main Street market.  There isn't an indoor space that can accommodate a winter market.  I make the trip to St. Catharines each Saturday during the winter as it is nearby.

This Little Piggy Was at Market

Our images today come from 13th Street Winery - the same setting as yesterday's Magnolia tree. This was taken on Saturday looking to the vineyards with the abundant dandelion crop.  The second is the hood ornament on the Salted Pig food truck - the Hand Made Market was on, so the winery was filled with artists, food trucks, and of course, people browsing and buying.

I wondered how one acquires a custom hood ornament.  Here's the Buzzfeedsite with their top 40 hood ornaments. A search for custom hood ornaments reveals many themes - from skulls to swans to star wars and on to gladiators. I guess if you can think of it, then it likely is available.

It's the Thursday Farmers' Market in Grimsby

It's Thursday in Grimsby and that means that Main Street is closed and the farmers' market takes over from 3:00pm on.  I won't get there early today and know that my favourite items in fruits and vegetables will be gone by 4:00pm…oh well.

Here's a view from last week.
